COVID-19 Update – July 14th

Dear residents of long term care and their families,

Today we are delighted to announce that Interior Health has approved our safety plans and that visitations will begin this week across all Golden Life long term care Villages. Under the current provincial orders residents may designate only one visitor who may enter the Village, this individual cannot be changed once designated.  Our recreation team will be working with every resident or their appointed decision maker to identify their visitor. Selected visitors will be contacted to book appointments that fit around their loved ones care schedule.

This is a manual process and may take a few days to contact every individual to schedule their time.  We understand the excitement of seeing your loved ones but request that you please do not rush to call the Village as this ties up lines and will slow the process.

Each visitor will be carefully pre-screened prior to arrival and will be required to bring their own mask, this can be medical grade or fabric. Once on site our staff will complete another assessment and train visitors on personal protective equipment use in our space. When the visitor’s mask is secured and screening complete, they will be guided to the designated space where they can visit with their family member for their scheduled time. We are required to monitor guests for their entire time in the Village, from the door, to the visiting space, and back out. This is part of the provincial guidelines to ensure that social distancing is not breached and that our residents and staff remain safe.

If you are not the designated visitor and still want to visit with your loved one, you may still conduct a window visit or visit via zoom through our fleet of tablets, this can be arranged with the front desk of the Village.

We look forward to opening our doors to our families over the coming days, thank you all for your continued patience as we navigate these new directives.

Sincerely,

Celeste Mullin
Vice President
