COVID-19 Update – April 1st

Dear Residents and Families of Golden Life Management,

In acknowledgement of the increased level of protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccination, and the impact of ongoing visitor restrictions on staff, residents, and families, the BC Health Ministry has directed the partial easing of visitor and other restrictions in Long Term Care and seniors’ Assisted Living at this time.

Beginning April 1, 2021 Golden Life Management will be implementing the following changes in Long Term Care in BC:

  • Every resident may enjoy regular, routine, frequent opportunities for social visitation, ensuring a minimum total of 60 minutes every week, if desired.
  • Social visits are no longer limited to one designated family member or friend. Additional family members and friends are allowed with a maximum of two adult visitors (and one minor) at the same time.
  • Residents may have more social visitors outdoors, in an appropriate location, and in alignment with current provincial health officer guidelines.
  • Infection prevention and control measures (e.g., screening for signs and symptoms of illness prior to every visit, practicing hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette and wearing medical masks) must be followed.
  • Social visitors may now visit in resident’s rooms in addition to designated indoor visitation areas in each of our Villages.
  • Physical touch between residents and their visitors is now allowed with infection prevention and control measures in place. Visitors must wear medical masks both indoors & outdoors.

Social visits can take place any day of the week, however visits must be scheduled in advance. Please contact your Village for information on how to book.

Beginning April 1, 2021 Golden Life Management will be implementing the following changes in Assisted/Independent Living in BC:

  • Every resident may enjoy regular, routine, frequent opportunities for social visitation, if desired.
  • Residents may host visitors in their room, up to a maximum of two adults (and one minor).
  • Residents may have more social visitors outdoors, in an appropriate location, and in alignment with current provincial health officer guidelines. Infection prevention and control measures (e.g., screening for signs and symptoms of illness prior to every visit, practicing hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette and wearing medical masks) must be followed.

Social visits may to be booked in advance with Golden Life Management when visiting a Resident in assisted/independent living. Please contact your Village for information on how to book.

In addition to revising visitation policies, restrictions have been lifted to support residents to leave the Village for appropriate outings and family visits. Residents should keep in mind that settings outside of the Village may not follow rigorous infection prevention and control practices. It is important for Residents, their families, and friends to keep in mind that there are still provincial COVID-19 restrictions for the general public that also apply to them.

While we are very excited to be able to provide you with the ability to reconnect physically with your loved ones, we ask that you continue to use extreme caution. We still face the potential for outbreaks within our Villages. Therefore, we must all work together to follow safe practices to protect our Residents and staff.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support as we have navigated these difficult times. We appreciate your continued efforts to follow our important safety guidelines.

Stay safe and well,
