To all Residents, Staff, Volunteers and Families,
At Golden Life we have been taking unprecedented measures to keep our residents, staff, and families safe. Our efforts have been effective, today we are happy to announce Interior Health has declared that Kootenay Street Village is no longer in outbreak. Due to precautionary measures, that were in place prior to the one case being identified, there has been no transmission between staff or residents of COVID-19. In fact, to date, no residents have had a case of COVID-19 in any of our Golden Life Villages!
This letter is as much a good news letter to our residents, families, and staff as it is a letter of gratitude for those putting in such valiant efforts. These past two weeks have been demanding and challenging, our teams’ selfless dedication to protecting each other, our residents, our families, and our communities has not gone unnoticed. Each day our staff chose to come to work, leaving their families, children, friends, and loved ones at home, to ensure that our residents are safe, loved, and cared for. The staff at Kootenay Street Village worked extra hours with heightened protocols and they truly brought the best of their professions to light.
During the outbreak, we had Health Authority personnel on site to assess our policies and procedures and it was noted that the measures put in place are effective, and are being followed. We continue to be vigilant and hold the line, with a strong focus on keeping our sites COVID-19 free by following our strong prevention strategy. With the weather getting warmer we know it becomes harder to follow protocols, but we must not bend. We kept our residents safe at Kootenay Street Village by following the policies and procedures and we must continue to do so now.
Once again, thank you to our Village teams for showing up each day to keep our Villages and seniors safe; thank you to our head office and management teams for your tireless work on ensuring the supports, systems and tools are in place to support our front line teams; and finally, thank you to our suppliers, health authority partners, doctors, and clinicians who continue to support us each day. Every day it grows more apparent that it does truly take a Village to care.
Warm Regards,
Celeste Mullin
