To all Residents, Staff, Volunteers and Families,
At Golden Life we have been taking unprecedented measures to keep our residents, staff, and families safe. Our efforts are working and to date we have had no cases of COVID-19 in any of our Villages. We have been conducting daily and weekly updates with these measures, but today, we want to celebrate some of the positive activities happening at our Village.
We have been hearing stories of hope, laughter, and joy coming from our Villages each day and it warms our hearts. We wanted to share some of these stories with you so that you can see firsthand how our residents, staff, and volunteers are going above and beyond to make this experience the best it can be.
Our teams have come together and organized balcony concerts with local musicians and residents so that other residents can enjoy live music from the safety of their balconies; we have seen volunteers paint windows and the pavement outside suites with hearts and well wishes; residents are hosting impromptu jam sessions during dinner service to serenade their neighbors; families have been visiting residents by speaking to them from the parking lot up to their balcony or have been visiting virtually through one of Golden Life’s new tablets; Residents have been creating tables of appreciation for our staff where they have been writing letters of support and encouragement; local ambulance and police have been conducting parades past our site in support of our care workers and residents; families have come to the Village and written notes to loved ones in care and taped them to the windows, which we have been calling “window texts”; at one site we have even begun to walk across Canada by measuring the distance around our Village and have been adding up cumulative kilometers.
These stories and more keep pouring in, we want to encourage each of you to continue to find new ways to connect and engage. This is such an important time to find joy and laughter amongst all the news we are hearing each day.
Thank you to everyone who has been so creative and kind, it truly takes a Village to care.
Warm Regards,
Celeste Mullin
Vice President
