Castle Wood Village’s annual prom brings joy to its residents
Castlegar, BC — Every year, Golden Life’s Castle Wood Village hosts a prom for its residents with music, refreshments and prom photos to raise the spirits of its residents with some light-hearted fun. The village crowns a prom king and queen — this year Molly (102) and Alex (101). The event took place on May 20 and was thoroughly enjoyed by its residents.
“Some of our residents have never had the chance to go to a prom,” says Castle Wood Village Community Manager, Linda Frew. “We believe in helping our residents live their lives to the fullest. Prom is one of the fun events that embodies Golden Life’s values.”
Golden Life’s values are at the core of what they do and the people they serve. Central to these values is the desire to help people enjoy new experiences and maintain meaningful connections and relationships with their friends, family and society. Despite a lack of opportunity for these kinds of activities during the pandemic, through prom, Castle Wood Village’s residents had the chance to connect and create memories.
“Life as we knew it has begun to stir again after a year of lock down in Castle Wood Village,” says President of the Castle Wood Village Seniors Council, Kay Abbott. “Residents turned out to prom in their best bib and tucker and the staff at Castle Wood treated us all as royalty. Special thanks to the administration and staff for keeping us safe in our homes. Thanks to the residents and their families for complying with all the rules and restrictions that COVID-19 has brought.”
