Today we are delighted to announce that Interior Health has approved our safety plans and that visitations will begin this week across all Golden Life long term care Villages.

On Tuesday June 30th we received much awaited news by our Provincial Health Officer and the Minister of Health that residents in Long Term Care will be allowed to receive a visitor for the first time since COVID-19 protocols were put into place in March.

We are pleased to report that, with your support, and with our staff’s ongoing dedication under the careful direction of our leadership team, we have demonstrated one of the best COVID-19 safety records in Western Canada!

With mother’s day approaching, we have many families inquiring what could be done for their loved one. Since Easter, we had been advised by the Provincial Health Officer to not accept any gifts, or deliveries of any non-essential items from outside of our Village, including flowers, as each item that comes into our building from an outside source introduces risk.

At Golden Life we have been taking unprecedented measures to keep our residents, staff, and families safe. Our efforts have been effective, today we are happy to announce Interior Health has declared that Kootenay Street Village is no longer in outbreak.

As the weather improves Golden Life is working to create safe environments for our residents to get outside. Providing safe spaces to walk around the Village while protecting residents and staff from potential exposure to COVID-19 is our main goal.
